FURTEX began in 1939 when Arnold Heath (trading under the name Arnold M Heath Ltd) started supplying New Zealand’s furriers with fur skins. In 1963, the business was handed over to the second generation and renamed as Heath Furs & Textiles Ltd. With this came the addition of imitation fur, suede and plush fabrics for clothing manufacturers, dress stores and handicraft retailers. Then in 1981 the emphasis turned towards the soft furnishings market as the third generation of family took the helm. FURTEX – now in its fourth generation – still remains a family owned and run business to this day.
