The story began on January 30, 1871 with Franz Detleff and William Goebel, the company founders. They built what later became a trademark: a manufactory of the senses. William Goebel and his father Franz Detleff found "F. & W. Goebel ". The first porcelain factory was built in 1878 and later became known as "Wilhelmsfeld". It establishes the location in Oeslau-Rödental near Coburg.

Today, Goebel is a tradition-steeped company that is always open to current trends in its business areas "giving, collecting and decorating". In many brand worlds, products are stylishly staged between tradition and lifestyle and aroused emotions that last for generations: with product lines such as Artis Orbis and Pop Art and De luxe.

Goebel carries out activities around the world in the context of corporate policy and the self-image of the corporate culture. The behavior on international markets is based on the respective cultural circles and social customs. Goebel measures quality by how durable and professional the products are, what their feelings are and to what extent they meet their expectations.
